Title IX

Title IX in North Carolina

North Carolina Education Violations

Entering the academic world is not an easy thing; many individuals throughout the country do not even seek higher education because it is so difficult. These difficulties can range from finances, to level of difficulty, to personal disadvantages.

Regardless of the reason, academia is hard enough to break into; it shouldn’t be any harder because of your sex. This is why Title IX (nine) exists nationally, and while not specific to education institutions, it has been fully adopted by the United Stated Department of Education.

If you feel as though your rights have been violated, it is important that you seek the legal assistance you require immediately. Call a North Carolina firm today at (910) 595-1377.

What is Title IX?

Title IX is a federally sanctioned law that specifically states: no individual in the United States will be denied participation, benefits, or be discriminated upon in anyway due to their sex. As a civil rights issue, the Department of Education added this amendment in 1972 and it has become even more relevant with the passing of time. Many individuals entering academic communities are now allowed the same educational rights that were once denied to them based on their sex.

This is no longer an educational death penalty.

While many associate this with the discrimination of women in academics, the importance of this law is becoming even more relevant in the 21st century. There has been a wide adoption of the LGBTQ community on academic campuses within the last few decades. All sexes are now free to receive the same education with no need to fear discrimination from the institution.
